في ليبيا تثار في مجلس العموم الكندي
توجه السيد لاري ميللر العضو البرلماني
بسؤال إلى وزير العلاقات الخارجية الكندية فحواه ما إذا رئيس الوزراء
بول مارتن سيتحدث مع القذافي في قضية حقوق الإنسان المنتهكة في ليبيا
أم لا ...وهذا مادار في البرلمان يوم 14 ديسمبر 2004
السيد لاري ميللر: رجل عمره 47 سنة( يقصد
بالرجل علي الصادق الهوني المحكوم عليه بالمؤبد) له إثنان من الأبناء
ومتخرج من جامعة كوينز ، هو الأن في السجن ومحكوم عليه بالمؤبد سنة
1998 لأنه ساعد مجموعة من العاملين من أجل التغيير الديمقراطي في ليبا
والذي هو ( الحكم) الأن تحت الدكتاتورية العسكرية. بناء على تقرير
منظمة العفو الدولية أن حقوق الإنسان في ليبيا سيئة للغاية ، ونتج عنها
تقارير عن التعذيب وموت رهن الإعتقال وعقوبات أخرى تحت أسباب سياسية.
فهل رئيس الوزراء سيتحدث مع معمر القذافي في هذه القضية عندما سيزور
طرابلس هذا الشهر.

يسافر رئيس الوزراء دائما مهتما بحالة المواطنين الكندييين. رئيس
الوزراء في كل سفرة يسافرها يغتنم كل فرصة ليدعم حقوق الإنسان ، وأنا
واثق من إنه سيفعل نفس الشئ عندما يزور ليبيا.

Foreign Affairs
Mr. Larry Miller (Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound, CPC): Mr. Speaker, a 47
year old man, who is the father of two and a graduate of Queen's
University, is being held in a Libyan prison after receiving a life
sentence in 1998 for helping a group that works toward democratic
change in Libya, which is under military dictatorship. According to
Amnesty International, Libya's human rights record is horrendous,
with reports of torture, death in custody and other punishments on
political grounds.
Will the Prime Minister be raising this issue with Moammar Gadhafi
when he visits Tripoli later this month?

Hon. Pierre Pettigrew (Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lib.): Mr.
Speaker, whenever he travels abroad, the Prime Minister is always
concerned about the status of Canadian citizens.

The Prime Minister uses every opportunity he has to promote human
rights on every one of his trips, and I am confident that he will do
the same thing when he visits Libya.
